Working at Cancarb was a great experience. I was the only student working under the plant project engineer. Because of this I was given a lot of freedom, and responsibility. Though my responsibilities were heavily centred around Project Management, I was also involved with the Design of a few projects. Here are a few examples of the projects I was involved in.
Trans-Canada Cancarb Site

Cancarb installed an auxillary gas burner to help produce extra power, this upgrade to the system added even more power. While not involved with the design of it I was able to play a role in assisting with the project management side of having it installed.

One of my favorite projects I was involved in was a low pressure steam piping project. The steam was used to lubricate incinerator valves on reactors that produced carbon black. I was lucky in this project because I was involved from the beggining. I was able to be the one who scratched out the pipe path on paper, go out and measure the lengths, and watch the contractors come in and build it.
